The project entitled “Building of a Biodiversity Information System for the State of Assam - Assam Biodiversity Portal” has been initiated by the Assam Project on Forest and Biodiversity Conservation Society (APFBCS) with the French Institute of Pondicherry (IFP).This project will be implemented in collaboration with two other partners-Strand Life Foundation (SLF) and Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE). It provides a platform for the participation of diverse stakeholders in documenting, sharing and using the biodiversity information of Assam. It will provide an opportunity to researchers, students, practitioners, academicians, policy makers and biodiversity enthusiasts in documenting and disseminating biodiversity related knowledge. This will also facilitate agencies which are involved in conserving biodiversity, development planners, private sectors and policy makers to prioritize efforts in conserving species and ecosystems.
